Hi, I'm Jim Kasting and I'm a planetary scientist at Penn State University.

My students and I study how atmospheres form and evolve on the Earth and other planets. We make computer models of atmospheric composition and of climate and then compare the results with whatever data are available. We hope one day to compare with data on planets around other stars obtained by NASA's planned Terrestrial Planet Finder Mission.
